The BlueStockings Society is a media that fosters the dialogue between arts, culture and politics. It showcases original articles including opinion and analysis pieces, reviews, and interviews but also artworks.

In the wake of the original Bluestockings, it gives a voice to amateur authors and critics to think about past and present arts in contemporary light.

The idea of the BlueStockings Society emerged during a discussion around the intrinsic relationship between arts and politics. We envisioned a platform that embodies the spirit of our everyday  conversations, merging our common passion for debate and creation.

The establishment of this media outlet reflects our contemplation on cultural phenomena as indicators of social change. What messages lie beneath art? What are the cultural and political implications of artworks? How does art establish itself in everyday life and respond to the transformations of time? Art can be both a catalyst for upheaval and a tool for conditioning. Through writing and art-making, we invite those interested to use this platform as a channel for disseminating ideas and documenting these shifts in various forms.

Lastly, believing that art serves as both a means of expression and a catalyst for consciousness, we have dedicated a significant space for artists to showcase their work in an « Original Artworks » section.

When envisioning a place centered on conversation, where individuals can exchange ideas about art and its broader cultural relevance, salons come to mind. The Blue Stockings Society was one such literary gathering that flourished in the 18th century.

This British women-led group is widely regarded as having advanced feminism by promoting progressive principles for the time, such as women’s education and economic opportunities. BlueStockings seeks to embody this modernism.

Yet, traditional salons were often secluded from the public sphere and viewed as extensions of court society. Breaking from this legacy, BlueStockings aims to democratise this practice through widely accessible online media.
